"Statistical Maturity Index" aims at learning about and measuring the level of statistical maturity of the government bodies and independent entities in the Emirate, in order to provide high quality statistics to be used in developing the developmental plan and setting policies and strategies that design future plans for the Emirate.
Statistical Maturity Index targets all Ajman-based government and independent bodies that keep administrative records and data and provide the Center with the required statistical data, where the quality of the administrative records kept by these bodies are evaluated in the context of the project of administrative census.
In evaluating and classifying the statistical maturity index for the bodies in Ajman Emirate, the specialized experts will rely on three levels: the maturity level, the development level and the establishment level. Moreover, they will depend on three main criteria and nine sub-criteria.
On her part, Dr. Hajar Al-Hubaishi, the Executive Director of Ajman Statistics and Competitiveness Center, said "The first edition of the evaluation process of the statistical maturity index in the last year, which was launched by H. H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the Crown Prince of Ajman and the Chairman of the Executive Board, had a positive impact for developing the work of the local government bodies and independent entities in Ajman Emirate, in order to prepare and publish official statistics that are appropriate to the nature of the approved international criteria and the guides issued by Ajman Statistics and Competitiveness Center".
Dr. Yasmin Joudi, the Head of the Technical Committee for the Administrative Census and manager of the statistical maturity index project, stated that the Index helps in promoting the quality of the statistical data produced by the government bodies. It also provides a set of comprehensive data of high quality, and it enhances the level of sharing of statistical information and data and ensures the government bodies' compliance with the adopted quality standards and procedures. The Index also develops and upgrades the efficiency of the statistical capabilities of the government bodies' staff".
She pointed out that the statistical maturity index is concerned with determining the extent of maturity of the government bodies in Ajman Emirate and their awareness of the importance of statistics and the administrative records, their uses and the extent of application thereof, in order to provide high quality data that serve the administrative census project and contribute to make decisions with the aim of designing the developmental plans and setting the policies and strategies.
